First Kiss

This collection of BBC sessions is a professionally-made sale bootleg. I believe that the label was Gold Standard; I have also seen a particular Lou Reed / John Cale / Nico CD with the same little "gramophone" logo.

This is an example of fandom taking an existing for-profit bootleg and redistributing the heck out of it. I'm not sure when it originally was sold, but by 2001 there were at least two different artworks available for it made by different re-booters. Whether the new artwork was made because somebody who got a CD-R copy had no artwork, or in order for some people to distinguish their free tree from a for-profit enterprise, I couldn't say.

I do like Gold Standard's design (if indeed I have that right) and wonder whether the actual CD came with more details in the booklet. It's nice to see Phil and Andy represented on the front cover. After all this time, as CDs continue their slow descent into oblivion, it's unlikely we'll ever see an official release of the BBC sessions. Had such an album ever existed, it probably would have felt like this, although there's no way Bry would have allowed any Roxy product to go out packaged like this!
